Sausage Cable Free Knitting Stitch. This cable creates long ovals with three small crossings in the center of each. The “links” between the ovals are formed by decreasing and increasing stitches.

Panel of 12 stitches

  • Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 (Wrong Side): K2, P8, K2.
  • Row 2: P2, K2, slip next 2 stitches to a double-pointed needle (dpn) and hold in front, K2 from the left needle, then K2 from the dpn; P2.
  • Rows 4 & 8: P2, K8, P2.
  • Rows 6 & 10: Repeat Row 2.
  • Row 12: P2, K2, K2tog (knit two together), SSK (slip, slip, knit), K2, P2.
  • Row 13: K2, P6, K2.
  • Row 14: P2, K1, SSK, K2tog, K1, P2.
  • Rows 15 & 17: K2, P4, K2.
  • Row 16: P2, slip next 2 stitches to a dpn and hold in back, K2 from the left needle, then K2 from the dpn; P2.
  • Row 18: P2, K1, M1 (make one), K2, M1, K1, P2.
  • Row 19: Repeat Row 13.
  • Row 20: P2, (K2, M1) twice, K2, P2.

Repeat Rows 1-20 for the pattern.
