2 Lace Flower Knitting Stitch Motifs

Knit a tulip lace panel and a classic flower. If you would like to try these patterns I have provided a translation to the symbol legends so English speakers can knit these beautiful patterns too.

Lace Flower Knitting Stitch Motifs

Legend:

  • + – knit stitch
  •  – purl stitch
  • o – yarn over
  • Triangle pointing right – knit two together (K2tog) with a right slant (needle inserted from left to right)
  • Triangle pointing left – slip, slip, knit (SSK) with a left slant (slip the first and second stitches as if to knit, then put them back on the left needle and knit them together, inserting the needle from right to left)
  • Dot with radiating lines – “bobble”: from 1 stitch, knit 5 (knit, yarn over, knit, yarn over, knit), turn work and purl them, turn and knit them, etc., total 6 rows, then in a knit row, knit all 5 stitches together
  • X – twisted knit stitch (knit through the back loop); in a purl row, purl through the back loop
  • Three horizontal lines – knit three together (K3tog)
  • Two horizontal lines – purl two together (P2tog)
  • Single stitch with three lines branching out – from one stitch, knit three stitches, yarn over, knit one stitch
  • Triangle with horizontal line through top – slip a stitch as if to knit, knit the next 2 stitches together, and pass the slipped stitch over the created stitch (S2KP – slip 2, knit 1, pass slipped over)
  • Triangle with horizontal line through bottom – slip the 1st and 2nd stitches as if to knit, knit the next stitch, and pass the slipped stitches over the created stitch
  • Curved arrow with plus sign – slip 1 stitch and leave it in front of work, knit the next stitch, then knit the slipped stitch (cable without a cable needle, “front cross”)
  • Curved arrow with minus sign – slip 1 stitch and leave it behind work, knit the next stitch, then knit the slipped stitch (cable without a cable needle, “back cross”)
