Continuous Braided Cables Stitch

Cast on a multiple of 9, plus 2 edge stitches.

The edge stitches are not included in the description and must be added. Slip the first edge stitch; purl the last stitch.

Knit through the back leg; purl as follows: with the working yarn in front of the work, insert the right needle through the stitch from back to front, move the working yarn under the right needle and pull it with the needle through the stitch. The purl stitch that is worked this way sets up the knit stitch to be knitted through the back leg.
