Do you have a “key” for the meaning to your symbols in the pattern? I’m new to knitting and finding it difficult to understand all the symbol variations out there.
These are Japanese symbols: Empty box – knit RS; purl WS Horizontal dash – purl RS; knit WS Circle – yarn over Tripod lookin thing – CDD X over two stitches – right or left twist, depending on which leg of the X is on top ** the short hyphen below the X simply indicates that the cross will require purling one of the stitches (a modification to standard RT and LT techniques which knit both stitches) X over 3 boxes – any X covering more than 2 boxes *should* be a cable maneuver but the chart designer isn’t showing any detail other than the direction the work crosses over on (toward left on RS). Typically the X symbols for cable maneuvers contain additional info – at minimum, extra dashes or legs indicating how many stitches cross which direction, whereas this one is just a plain X like a standard LT, except it stretches over 3 boxes instead of 2, which means it’s no longer any kind of RT or LT I’ve ever heard of that didn’t require a cable needle.. Perhaps it’s something like cable 1 front, work RT from left needle, then knit 1 from CN? Sorry I can’t find anything like this in my Japanese knitting book, X for RT/LT are always over 2 stitches, and X for twists/crosses involving CN always contain more info!

It’s a beautiful pattern, but I can’t find the stitch symbols in any glossary. Can anybody translate?

Horizontal dash – purl RS; knit WS
Circle – yarn over
Tripod lookin thing – CDD
X over two stitches – right or left twist, depending on which leg of the X is on top
